Description:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To research, produce and publish groundbreaking, innovative multi-platform stories for CBS2 and CBSChicago.com.  This position will have an emphasis on producing content for a digital first environment.

 

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Propose and research story ideas of a hard news, enterprise nature, as well as contribute to daily news coverage.

  • Generate investigative stories through creation of original databases and computer-assisted reporting.

  • Collaborate with reporters to produce investigative reports that are visually compelling and informative.

  • Conduct interviews.

  • Write web stories as assigned.

  • Manage assignment desk as needed

  • Work at direction of assignment editor to follow up on story tips and make beat checks.

  • Answer questions from public on matters related to news programming.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


·      Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field

·      Prior internship in broadcast newsroom, desirable
