CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. Among its stations are WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV (New York), KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV (Los Angeles), WBBM-TV (Chicago), KYW-TV and WPSG-TV (Philadelphia), KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV (Dallas-Ft. Worth), KPIX-TV and KBCW-TV (San Francisco), WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV (Boston), WUPA-TV (Atlanta), WWJ-TV and WKBD-TV (Detroit), KSTW-TV (Seattle), WTOG-TV (Tampa-St. Petersburg), WCCO-TV (Minneapolis), KCNC-TV (Denver), WFOR-TV and WBFS-TV (Miami), KOVR-TV and KMAX-TV (Sacramento), KDKA-TV and WPCW-TV (Pittsburgh), WJZ-TV (Baltimore), as well as WCCO-TV’s satellite stations KCCO-TV (Alexandria, Minn.) and KCCW-TV (Walker, Minn.).
The Director, Master Control Operations will serve as the on-site liaison between CBS Television O & O stations, CBS headquarters and the vendor executing the centralized Master Control Operations. The Director will ensure that the vendor’s performance is executed in a unified manner, in accordance with CBS procedures and station operations.
Operates as the primary point of contact between CBS Headquarters, O&O television stations and all vendors that support the centralized Master Control Operations
Coordinates with CBS O&O television stations Traffic Hub to ensure Standard Operating Procedures and technical standards are met for all operational activity involved in broadcasting
Coordinate the day-of-air communications activity with Network Operations and the vendor
Responsible to ensure that all equipment utilized by the vendor for broadcast and network hardware is operational and resolve any technical issues to ensure uninterrupted daily operations
Act as the 24/7 contact with the vendor to resolve any immediate on-air issues or changes at our stations.
Other duties as assigned
Minimum 5 years in a broadcast environment management position
Technical proficiency and operational knowledge of all systems and hardware
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in a broadcast related field preferred
Ability to read and interpret documents such as standard contracts, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals, etc.
Live event broadcast experience
Excellent demonstrated leadership skills
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Understanding of playout automation and traffic logs
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
