CBS in Dallas/Fort Worth has an immediate opening for a full-time Digital News Video Editor.
The Digital News Video Editor will be part of a unique and nimble team – based in DFW – that will quickly create custom video news packages for use on all CBS O&O market television web sites.
The ideal candidate will be solutions oriented with a positive 'can-do' attitude willing and ready to face unique challenges in an ever-changing multimedia landscape.
The Digital News Video Editor should be an excellent visual storyteller with some professional experience working in a television newsroom. Candidate must be able to demonstrate proficient knowledge of non-linear editing systems – ideally Adobe Premiere – and be able to perform well under deadline pressures.
The Digital News Video Editor position requires a clear understanding of journalism process and ethics. Candidate must possess excellent writing and proofing skills and is expected to create content, graphics and lower thirds that are creative, concise, of excellent quality and free of typographical errors.
Duties include editing anchor PKGs, VOs, and VOSOTs from raw video for the national digital CBS platforms. Good candidates will possess the ability to communicate effectively with the team producer, anchor and manager on how to make news stories better. A good candidate will possess excellent time management skills and have the ability to pay attention to detail. Candidate will also be expected to contribute story ideas and participate actively in coverage decisions and editorial meetings as needed.
Candidate should be familiar with different writing techniques for both the spoken and written word and have the ability to quickly construct a cogent story from CBS and wire reports as well as tweets and releases from verified news sources like CBS Newspath and the Associated Press.
Software Experience Preferred:
• Adobe Suite of Products with focus on Adobe Premiere
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Social Media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat
• Avid iNews
Bachelor’s or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or allied field preferred; Excellent organizational and communication skills required; Must be results-oriented, innovative, and demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.
HOURS: This is a full-time position. Candidate will be expected to be available as the schedule demands.
