Position Purpose: The Commercial Videographer works with staff Producers, Directors, Editors and Sales Executives to produce original television commercials and promotions for KDKA-TV and WPCW’s advertising clients.
Support all studio and set productions with freelance and staff crews, and production equipment
Liaison between freelance community and KDKA-TV, WPCW-TV
Liaison between equipment rental/sales vendors and KDKA-TV, WPCW-TV
Prepare equipment for next-day productions
Manage production gear that may need picked up and/or dropped off prior to and after productions
Must work well with people and be a good communicator
Retrieve all freelancer reports and submit to producer, director or operations manager
Attend creative meetings between producers and clients
Scout locations prior to productions if possible
Supervise interns and log hours for reporting purposes
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Operation of all production equipment Including:
Basic working knowledge of production equipment, Including camera equipment, sound equipment and lighting/grip equipment.
Basic lighting w/ in-house lighting packages as well as rented inventory when needed.
Studio lighting controls and applications.
Steadicam, jib-arm/crane and dolly operation.
Editing on Multi-Platform a plus. We edit on : FINAL CUT X, Adobe Premiere Pro/Avid DS, Avid Media Composer
College degree preferred.
Basic maintenance of all production equipment – cameras, mics, lights, etc.
Reports for all equipment sent out for repair.
Maintain production van including inspections, general service, cleaning, fueling, weekly visual inspections and parking.
Maintain Production expendables inventories and order expendables as needed using proper PO and management clearances. This wil include the purchase of tape stock, gels, diffusions, lamps, gaffer’s tape, black wrap, various studio grip supplies, camera/lens cleaning supplies etc.
