KCBS/KCAL 9 News is seeking a full-time writer to work the morning shift.  You will be a key member of the morning news team, working a shift that’s critical to the overall news image and growth of the station.  We are seeking a dedicated, efficient, accurate and creative writer for this position.  You’ll write scripts, rough-cut video and assist in the overall production of stories for the AM Newscasts, as well as assisting in news cut-in production when necessary.  This is a Writers Guild of America position and membership in WGA is required.

•Attach broadcast writing samples which have appeared on-air or on-line.


Required Qualifications:

  • JOB SCHEDULE: 3:00am – 11:00am

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to:

  • You must be able to commit to working an overnight shift long-term.
  • Previous experience writing broadcast style copy for television or digital newscasts required.
  • Candidates will be required to take a broadcast writing test. 

Minimum Education Level:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Journalism, Communications, English preferred, but not required.
