Description:

CBS Corporation is seeking a seasoned communications executive to join its New York-based Communications team as Vice President, Communications. The individual will help manage media relations initiatives and activities across multiple corporate divisions including Sales, Research, Affiliate Relations, Human Resources, Legal, Carriage Agreements, Governmental Affairs, Investor Relations and Program Practices. The individual will report to the Executive Vice President of Communications and will work closely to support the communications teams at each of CBS’s business segments. The position will also help manage all internal communication efforts at the Company.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a day-to-day contact with all print, electronic and online media outlets/reporters covering CBS’ corporate initiatives or any issues related to the company.

  • Serve as the Corporate Communications Department’s primary point of contact for various CBS executives, and division/business leaders across the company and to help develop and execute a cohesive communications strategy for the various corporate divisions.

  • Work closely with a diverse team of communications professionals responsible for supporting CBS’ external and internal initiatives. 

  • Interface with media executives and provide strategic counsel regarding communications strategies across various business divisions.

  • ​Proactively identify opportunities where communications initiatives advance CBS’ strategies and convey the company’s purpose, vision and priorities.

Qualifications:

Skills/Requirements:

  • 10-15+ years of experience in media relations and internal communications – preferably in a corporate media environment.

  • BA in communications, public relations, English, Journalism or related field.

  • Strong verbal and written business communication skills.

  • Proven leadership skills including collaboration/team player and demonstrated track record of good judgement in handling corporate PR issues.

  • The ability to think strategically and creatively while managing multiple issues and projects.

  • Experience and proven results across a variety of corporate communications disciplines, including strategy work, media relations, issues management/crisis communications, and executive leadership communications.

  • Must be an inspiring leader able to motivate, provide feedback, and conduct reviews for team members.
