DESCRIPTION

CBS News has an exciting opportunity to join our Media Production Services group. Reporting to the Director of News Editing, the Media Production Support Specialist is part of a small team dedicated to maintaining and supporting the technical infrastructure used in our edit facilities. Including but not limited to: video editing hardware and software, shared storage, web applications, asset management, networking components, ingest and playout devices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide front-line technical support for editors, technicians and producers in a live, broadcast television environment
  • Fulfill media management requests including the archiving, deleting and restoring of assets
  • Build, test and deploy workstations, servers and other broadcast devices; handle in-depth hardware and software configurations
  • Detect, analyze and resolve system issues associated with server hardware, operating systems and applications
  • Identify, document and communicate all system changes, technical issues and discrepancies to management and other team members
  • Engage external vendors when necessary with an ability to drive system issues to resolution
  • Participate in the testing and evaluation new software and hardware
  • Provide one-on-one instructions and guidance to end users with an ability to identify and address any outstanding pain-points.
  • Administer Windows and Linux servers
Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Two plus years in a Broadcast, NOC or Post Production environment providing front-line technical support and maintenance
  • Experience across the Avid ecosystem including Media Composer, ISIS/NEXIS, Interplay and AirSpeed
  • Strong knowledge of video codecs, wrappers and formats utilized in file-based workflows
  • System Administration experience (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS)
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting IP networks, protocols and hardware
  • Working knowledge of video fundamentals including frame rates, sync and time code
  • Ability to perform in a time-sensitive, live, on-air environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with other team members; friendly team-player with a can-do spirit
  • Flexibility  to work various shifts when needed including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Bachelor’s Degree
