Description:

CBS Television City is seeking candidates for a full time staff IBEW Audio Mixer/A1 position.  The Audio Mixer/A1 is a member of CBS TVC’s technical operations team which is responsible for the productions of live and recorded television programs.   

 

The Audio Mixer’s main responsibilities include the set-up and configuration of audio mixing console and the mixing of show audio base on production needs. The Audio Mixer will also supervise other audio team members such as the A2 and the PA mixers within a particular show. The Audio Mixer must be familiar with the entire audio production chain, from set-up to mixing, recording and post production.

 

If needed, the Audio Mixer may also be required to mix front of house, monitor, voice over, music mix, and record multi-track. This position requires a thorough understanding of various microphone and audio processor types and their performance characteristics.  The ability to use, understand, configure and patch large format digital audio mixing consoles is required.  Knowledge of Studer, Calrec, and SSL mixing consoles, as well as Dante, MADI, Nuendo, and Avid Pro Tools is a plus.

Qualifications:

The Audio Mixer should be flexible in the creative sound design to meet the show’s production requirements. The ability to manage and configure the audio signal flow and overall sound design for new productions is required. The willingness to learn and keep in tune with new technologies and audio production techniques is expected.    

 

The Production Audio Mixer/A1 interfaces and communicates frequently and effectively with the show production staff and executive management.  Participation in show production meetings and the ability to interact and communicate at a high level with technical staff, production management, show executives, and co-workers is required.

 

Candidates with experience working as an Audio Mixer/A1/Recording Engineer in broadcasting, media production or a related technical field will be considered.
