CBS Television Distribution is looking for a full time Manager of Engineering and Technical Operations to oversee the day to day production facility and supervise a team of operations staff and technical maintenance staff for the long standing Emmy winning show, Entertainment Tonight.   The position is based at CBS Studio Center in Studio City California.

This position will manage the operation and maintenance of technology and broadcasting equipment used in the daily operation and production of Entertainment Tonight.   Equipment oversight would include Field Camera Equipment, Production Control Room, the ET Stage and all associated equipment including studio cameras, router systems, Voice Over equipment and booths, the Technical Operations Center ingest and playout functions, post production, as well as the daily Transmission Distribution via Pitch Blue.

On a daily basis this position will communicate with management and production staff in coordination of technical configurations and the staffing needed in support of the daily show production.  

Managing the technical staff on problems and equipment configuration is required, as well as hands on troubleshooting of complex workflow and equipment.   This position will manage the maintenance shop and lead a staff of maintenance and operational staff.   The scheduling of the staff will be performed by this position on a weekly basis, as well as vacation and sick leave tracking.

High level communication skills are required to interface with equipment vendors to facilitate both new purchases, capital projects, as well as on-going maintenance and support of existing equipment and updates.  

  • 10 years of maintenance and or design experience within a broadcasting or media environment.
  • Must have a strong awareness of emerging and current broadcast industry technologies and trends
  • Ability to manage within an organization and pull several different agendas together to reach a common goal or workflow process.
  • Ability to lead, manage and motivate a technical staff towards common goals.
  • Ability to communicate clearly within all levels of an organization.
  • Complete understanding of a broadcast workflows and transmission requirements.
  • Understanding of routers, switchers, multiviewers, Grass Valley Stratus system.
  • Ability to manage and design systems and troubleshoot during production.
  • Ability to manage and mitigate risk in operation, during updates and equipment configurations.
  • Ability to work with broadcast vendors and service providers in the selection and maintenance of equipment.
  • A BS degree in Engineering or Computer technology or equivalent experience in a technical discipline 
  • Fluent use of Microsoft office products  
  • Familiarity with IATSE union rules and regulations are a plus
