Duties & Responsibilities:

CBS Television Distribution, the pre-eminent company in television syndication and the producer and distributor of major first-run television series including Entertainment Tonight, Judge Judy, Dr. Phil and Inside Edition, seeks a mid-level executive to join its domestic Business Affairs and Legal Department.  The position will be based in Santa Monica, CA and will report to the SVP, Business Affairs.  Major responsibilities will include:

·         Structuring, negotiating, documenting and managing talent agreements for the production of its first-run television series

·         Structuring, negotiating, documenting and managing  a wide variety of television-releated deals, including development agreements, rights acquisitions and rights licenses

·         Legal and business affairs oversight of content created for series websites and internet distribution

·         Back-up production attorney for CTD’s first-run television productions  

·         Provision of legal advice and oversight for all areas of the Division’s operations, including advertising and promotion, research and product rights

·         Such other responsibilities as assigned by SVP, Business Affairs or EVP, Business Affairs & Legal

  • Minimum of 7 years legal experience and 3 years of Business Affairs experience within the entertainment industry
  • Superior communication, analytic and writing skills
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization and time management skills with the ability to execute multiple, high-priority projects with a keen attention to detail
  • Professional and confident demeanor

Education :   JD Required, California Bar or California RIHC eligible
