Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing is looking for a motivated and highly organized self-starter to join the Marketing, Publicity, and Digital Marketing department as Marketing & Publicity Assistant.  The Marketing & Publicity Assistant will report directly to the VP, Director of Marketing & Publicity, providing administrative support and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the department.  The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker and problem solver who is capable of hitting the ground running in a fast-paced work environment. This an exciting  entry-level opportunity.

Individual responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the VP, Director of Marketing & Publicity by answering phones, scheduling, creating agendas for meetings, filing, and ordering materials
  • Coordinating and facilitating the weekly Children’s Sales & Marketing Meeting by preparing the agenda and meeting materials
  • Process travel & expense reports, invoices, and bill payment
  • Provide support for the department, including but not limited to ordering books and supplies, preparing for meetings, and additional projects as needed
  • Support Retail Marketing Coordinator by assembling materials for seasonal sales meetings and assisting with mailings and conference shipments
  • Staffing local conferences such as BookExpo, BookCon, and New York Comic Con

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is a must
  • Previous administrative experience preferred
  • Previous experience in children’s book publishing preferred (internship experience accepted)
