Simon and Schuster is seeking a Marketing Assistant for Gallery, Scout Press, Jeter Publishing, Pocket and Pocket Star. This person will support the creation and execution of marketing campaigns for a wide range of genres, from celebrity nonfiction to literary fiction to romance and graphic novels. 

The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, detail oriented environment and possess a positive attitude with the desire to learn and grow within the department.

This is an entry-level position, so recent college graduates and those wishing to enter professional publishing (with or without prior experience in this particular field) are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be able to demonstrate initiative, creative problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include:

--Helping devise marketing plans for distinct titles and genres

--Managing social media accounts: post preparation and scheduling, fan interaction, and long-term strategic marketing initiatives

--Support imprints' GoodReads account for giveaways

--Conceptualizing and executing outreach to bookselling accounts, bloggers, book clubs, and other third parties for cross-promotion and giveaways

--Assisting with content creation and maintenance for romance genre website

--Schedule and provide content for e-newsletters

--Compiling company-wide weekly publicity and marketing round-ups

--Handling administrative responsibilities for the department including mailings, bills and expense report processing


Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, as well as general computer skills are expected. Experience with basic HTML a plus. Must be savvy with Social Media.
