Job Profile: We are looking for a Managing Director to lead and manage an award-winning team in an exciting, fast-paced role, taking this division to the next level of excellence.
Your Role: The Managing Director, Children’s, is responsible for delivering an inspiring vision for Simon & Schuster’s Children’s business - producing a creative, commercially ambitious publishing strategy that drives sales and establishes Simon & Schuster as the natural home for the best children’s books, writers and illustrators.
Resolutely forward-thinking, the Managing Director will ensure the Children’s team is structured to lead and respond to a competitive market, relentlessly focused on bestsellers and developing the most exciting new talent. With an unrivalled grasp of the publishing landscape, the Managing Director’s experience and insights will be key to identifying new commercial opportunities, and to working seamlessly with the sales and marketing teams on pricing and promotion.
A charismatic ambassador for Simon & Schuster amongst authors, agents, booksellers and other key stakeholders, the Managing Director will attract the best new authors and help connect them with the biggest possible audience. While financially savvy and forensic with budgets, the Managing Director’s collaborative global approach, and positive leadership will motivate the Children’s team to deliver innovative, industry-leading work. Reporting to the Chief Executive, with crucial links to Simon & Schuster Inc, S&S India, S&S Australia and international operations, the Managing Director will have a close working relationship with the senior management team in the UK and globally, as it looks to accelerate Simon & Schuster’s growth.
