This Editorial Assistant will support one busy editor, with, possibly, partial support of another. The primary editor publishes idea books, history, memoir, science, cultural critiques, sports, business, and, very selectively, suspense fiction. The job imposes significant time demands because of the scope of the editor’s list and responsibilities.
Core responsibilities include reading and reporting on submissions; helping supervisor make acquisitions (which involves finding comparison titles and drafting P&Ls); targeting potential blurbers through data mining; drafting and editing tip sheets; helping with editing; and managing the production process for all titles.
The ideal candidate is highly verbal, a very good writer, able to juggle multiple tasks under deadline pressure. Being highly meticulous when it comes to details is an absolute MUST.
