This position leads the Affiliate Finance team overseeing Cable, Telco and Special Markets platforms, as well as, Signal and Contract Management processes. The primary responsibilities include 1) management of all financial and operational aspects of the assigned account portfolio; 2) provide detailed strategic analyses on revenue platforms; 3) primary business lead to the Affiliate Management System (AMS) Project – CBS’s cross-divisional, next-generation billing and reporting application; 4) supervise signal and device management, and contract management functions. This position has supervisory responsibilities for two Directors, two Senior Financial Account Managers, and one Financial Account Manager.
This individual is a key contributor and influencer in regard to sales and marketing initiatives in partnership with the CFO, the SVP of Affiliate Finance & Business Operations and Sales and Marketing business units.
Lead the development of detailed analyses, long range business plans, revenue/subscriber forecasts and expense budgets for traditional affiliate platforms. Provide senior management with detailed, decision-oriented presentations. As information affecting short and long-term trends becomes available, proactively revise forecasts and analyses to ensure accuracy with no variance surprises for senior management.
Responsible for supervision and timely execution of all financial operations, including cash collection and application, subscriber tracking, monthly accounting close for revenue, variance analyses, and the application of revenue recognition methodologies for appropriate accounting treatments and systems controls.
This position is responsible for providing key strategic analyses and guidance on contract negotiations (including concept modeling, analysis, internal sell-in, and presentation) to a wide range of Senior Executives (CFO, Sales EVP, SVPs, AVPs). This also includes developing new ways to structure deals with little to no guidance and being able to successfully present to senior management and express a well-developed point of view.
Provide strategic analyses on a myriad of issues pertaining to SNI’s distribution revenue environment (competition, affiliate objectives, industry consolidation, long-term outlook, etc.). Specifically, analysis and review of all available metrics and data to ensure SNI is making the correct strategic decisions on all platforms are key responsibilities.
These analyses are utilized by management to determine SNI’s business planning, potential new initiatives/investments, marketing plans and affiliate relations. The individual must be able to synthesize complex information into a format that is detailed, clear and concise for presentation.
Timely completion of strategic analyses in an ever-changing business environment requires effective leadership and delegation by this VP within the Affiliate Finance team.
Presentation and communication of financial issues, revenue and expense analyses and all related sensitivities to senior management on an ongoing basis; requires development of recommended courses of strategic action for consideration by senior management; requires steadfastness to point of view in the face of differing opinions; requires proactive and constant monitoring of all financial events and discussions on a daily basis. As an executive team member within both the Corporate Finance and Sales departments, help to influence and shape the financial and strategic direction of the company with insights from an Affiliate Finance perspective.
Work closely with members of the financial organization in team development by supporting the principles of effective teams. Develop and train new team members within the Affiliate Finance team and throughout the finance organization as appropriate.
Oversee the signal/device management and contract administration functions, which include supervising one Director, working closely with the Operations department and co-sponsoring the OASYS device management/authorization system.
Lead and manage the proper administration of distribution revenue management services for joint venture agreements, including Smithsonian Networks.
8-10 years Finance experience with strategic modeling and business planning experience
Undergraduate degree in related field; MBA or CPA preferred
