Reporting to the SVP, Original Programming Finance, the VP, Production Finance is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production accounting operations for Showtime’s original programming.  Key duties include production accountant staffing, production budgeting and cost analysis, advising business units on guild/union agreements and labor rules, ensuring that production accounting policies and procedures are followed, supervising internal and guild/union audits, and overseeing production tax incentives and tax reporting.  The position provides full financial support to and is a primary finance liaison with the Corporate Finance, Creative, Business Affairs and Production departments.


§ Oversee day-to-day production accounting operations, policies and procedures, production payroll and accounts payable

§ Review weekly cost reports, cash flow funding and final cost statements and utilize experience to recommend financial and operational solutions and improvements

§ Direct outside production accountants and service companies during production to ensure that all guild rules/guidelines, labor and payroll rules are being followed and transactions are accurately recorded

§ Review and approve production budgets and templates

§ Oversee preparation of talent payment schedules per talent agreements and guild guidelines

§ Manage development payments, reporting and tracking including script, overall and first look deals

§ Oversee all regularly scheduled guild plan audits and advise on guild inquiries

§ Act as key advisor in the management, preparation and submission of various state and international production tax credits

§ Manage the preparation and submission of production related tax filings including ICR’s, 1099’s, and 1042’s

§ Supervise and approve the on-boarding/off-boarding of each production, including production accounting software, bank accounts and document management systems

§ Manage prep/wrap accounting department 

§ Lead best practices production related IT initiatives



§ Production Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of production finance functions. Complete understanding of the entertainment industry and its business practices are required. Must have extensive knowledge of television or movie production accounting

§ Accounting knowledge: Substantial experience with a general ledger accounting system is also required, including extensive knowledge of accounts payable functions, television or movie production accounting, and general ledger system structures

§ Contract knowledge: Must be able to interpret and advise on complex guild/union agreements, talent agreements and tax incentive structures

§ Decision-making: Must be able to tap industry resources and utilize knowledge and experience to exercise sound business judgment, make independent decisions and advise business unit leaders


§ A minimum of 10 years’ production finance/accounting experience is required

§ Bachelor’s degree required
