Description:
The Supervisor, Distributor Sales and Marketing is responsible for day-to-day execution of sales administrative and marketing functions for the Distributor Sales & Marketing Department. The supervisor will support and assist all members of the team in administration and coordination of affiliate sales projects and marketing campaign tactics. The supervisor will work closely with members of the Digital Media Production and Consumer Marketing teams, as well as other Smithsonian Channel departments, and external partners. As appropriate, also works directly with Design, PR and Business Affairs/Legal in order to acquire necessary assets and information and obtain appropriate approvals.  In conjunction with the SVP and Distributor Marketing Director, the supervisor will also interface with the CBS Television Networks Distribution team on special projects and presentations on an as needed basis.  

Responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to:

1. Marketing Projects & Asset Production Timelines:
  • Develop annual department calendar that outlines key marketing campaigns & promotional milestones, as it relates to key tent pole programs. 
  • Coordinate with appropriate internal departments and external clients’ necessary assets, usage and deadlines. 
  • Create Distributor Marketing’s list of quarterly programming asset needs (program copy, images and videos). Work with Distributor Manager and Digital Producer to identify video clips for clip syndication to distributors for online sites.
  • Work with Distributor Manager to maintain and update affiliate launch kits for distributors – a standard set of assets such as logos, style guide, etc. Kits should live online.
  • Create asset grid for schedule and deadlines to be used to communicate deliverables to in-house creative agency and other stake holders
  • Work directly with the S.I. affiliated museum team and internal network departments on all elements of screening shows at S.I. affiliated museums 
2. Collateral,  Intranet Support & Premium Store
  • Update and keep current the Smithsonian Channel section of Shoogle on a regular basis with the most up to date promotional spots, sales & CSR one sheets, videos, presentations, S.I. affiliated museum list, programming schedules, press releases, branding materials, etc. 
  • Work in conjunction with the Distributor Marketing Manager on production of new marketing materials such as program description sheets, bill messaging, etc. 
  • Work with the Director to create monthly programming highlights one sheets and other forms of communication for CBS Television Networks Distribution team
  • Oversee the ordering, and maintaining of the premium store working in conjunction with the Director & Ad Sales SVP
3. Sales Communication Materials & Support– Supervisor will provide administrative support on the following:
  • Mailings and mailing lists (Magazine, VIP mailings) and magazine subscription fulfillment
  • Meeting coordination 
  • Presentations – develop compelling custom presentation decks that assist the organization in maximizing subscribers and revenue for the channel
  • Competitive - monitor other non-fiction channels to identify areas that set Smithsonian Channel apart; work with Ad Sales team to identify common sales tools
  • Reporting –assist field organization in compiling information as to contract language and obligations, subscriber trends, VOD and TVE usage. 
4. Marketing Assets – Supervisor will work closely with Distributor Manager on the following affiliate asset deliverables:
  • Web banners
  • Copy & images
  • Video Clips
  • Notification emails
  • Q/A & proofing of promotional materials 
5. Special Projects
  • Provide assistance on VOD and Authentication as it relates to monitoring the competition and conducting an overall audit of network programming offerings such as online sampling
  • Monitor SVOD services on an ongoing basis and send an updated report to Sr. Mgmt.
  • Develop a 4K VOD schedule for 4K On Demand platform drafting off of linear schedule

Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of related professional work experience; marketing experience a plus
  • A strong interest in working for a media company
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proactive worker with very strong ATTENTION TO DETAIL and the ability to self-check work on a daily basis
  • Ability to prioritize workflow is essential
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills – including ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, with daily tracking and regular follow-up
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (ability to communicate across various functions including design, technology, marketing and vendors)
  • Excellent grammatical skills needed
  • Ability to work with web based tools
  • Ability to multi-task changing priorities and projects
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Keynote
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to take direction and constructive feedback
