The person in this position is part of a small team responsible for technical support of our post production infrastructure at Showtime’s New York offices. They will be the primary systems administrator for post production infrastructure and will help research the deployment of new technology solutions to compliment the in-house post production facility (Red Post), Broadcast Operations and Smithsonian Channel.
Primary systems administrator for video production storage, archive system, and other principal technologies of the post production facility
Assume primary responsibility for Red Post hardware infrastructure encompassing production shared storage, archive servers, tape library, media asset management servers, and more. This responsibility extends beyond regular business hours, and occasionally on weekends.
Handle end-user permissions and media management requests.
Respond to email notifications of technical problems and perform remote diagnosis.
Facilitate technical upgrades for Red Post and its peripheral users.
Act as a liaison between Creative Services and Broadcast Operations to ensure technical workflows needs are addressed.
Work with integrators and outside vendors as needed to address support issues or handle deployment and integration in Red Post and other areas as required.
Engineer technical solutions to selected workflow issues.
Create and/or oversee the creation of support documentation for relevant systems and workflows.
Work with supervisor to ensure proper documentation of best practices for technical settings, data backup and recovery, and other critical procedures.
Technical solutions and workflow development
Participate in the selection and evaluation of new technologies.
Adapt or design new workflows related to post production and content creation.
Work with coworkers, vendors, and other third parties to develop technical road maps for areas of focus.
End-user technical support
As a member of the technical support team, answer the support hotline, and respond to emails and direct requests for help.
Provide higher level technical support to end-users if needed, or backup support when required.
Minimum of 5 years technical support experience in a production environment which includes Adobe Premiere, Avid Pro Tools, and server administration.
Atempo Digital Archive and Spectralogic tape library experience is preferred.
Real-world audio/video engineering experience a plus.
Technical expertise in all areas of post production workflow, including audio/video editing, shared production storage, graphics, signal flow and infrastructure; studio maintenance expertise.
Highly competent in Adobe Creative Suite, Avid Media Composer, and Pro Tools.
Proficiency with major operating systems (OS X, Windows Desktop/Server, and Linux).
Sound networking fundamentals, meaningful server administration experience, and facilitiy with Active Directory and Apple Open Directory.
Media asset backup/archiving experience with an understanding of industry-related cloud concepts.
Server maintenance, including gathering logs, running security updates, and imaging/backup.
Very strong communication and organizational ability.
