This position is responsible for the reporting and accounting for Showtime theatrical and sports programming assets, liabilities and amortization. These responsibilities include the monthly reporting & recording of all assets and liabilities, monthly asset estimates, reporting financial results along with related variance and other analyses for the company’s Financial Statements. This individual is also responsible for all financial aspects related to the theatrical cash payments, budget, monthly estimates and long range plans. This position is also responsible for monitoring the integrity of the IBMS (Integrated Business Management System) and making sure that IBMS is in balance with the general ledger and in compliance with GAAP (general accounting principles), and established accounting practices. Additionally, this position serves as the main contact for all Audits and SOX compliance testing.
Performance and monitoring of all monthly balance sheet analyses and reporting for Theatrical and Sports program assets and liabilities. This includes monthly journal entries to record assets, liabilities and amortization, reclassifications to prepaid assets and current/non-current classifications. This also includes updating the roil-forwards on a monthly basis and the aging analyses (by product window). On a quarterly basis, perform detailed review the of the liability and asset accounts for balances which either have a long overdue payment date or license window. Perform a reconciliation of amortization to the monthly play history report from IBMS. Track all Studio Participation Revenue & Cash. Work closely with Financial Reporting to provide this team with the necessary documentation supporting the Quarterly Balance Sheet (inventory roll-forward, balance sheet analysis and reporting, etc.). Supply CBS with Related Party and Tax package reporting.
Assist in the preparation of all check requisitions/wire forms for license fee payments to ensure that they are prepared in accordance with contractual terms. Review payments for complex library deals to ensure accuracy and completeness. On-going review of output, library and indie agreements particularly with regard to payment and other balance sheet considerations. Seek clarifications of contractual terms from Legal and Program Acquisitions.
Responsible for the preparation of the theatrical programming cash annual Budget, monthly Estimates, and Long Range Plan. This includes the coordination of these processes with the Acquisitions and Legal departments. Responsible for the preparation of all supporting schedules and information, including detailed and comprehensive analyses that support the presentation of the Budget and Estimates to Corporate. Day to Day responsibilities include acquired programming title maintenance (cost, payment terms, amortization, etc.).
Responsible for the preparation of the monthly and quarterly close for theatrical programming cash/assets including narrative and variance analysis of actual performance compared to Budget, Estimates and prior year results. Prepare weekly cash forecasts for submission to the Controller’s Group. Regular updates ensure that Programming Finance takes proactive measures to enable SNI to meet monthly and quarterly goals. Works closely with Management Reporting to ensure that the programming cash flow accurately represents any budget contingencies and that the full year and monthly budgets and estimate totals are in accordance with Management Reporting’s expectations and that overall SNI’s cash flow targets are met.
Assist in the preparation of the unrecorded contractual programming commitments on a quarterly basis for Corporate. Work with executives in Program Acquisitions and Legal to determine whether pending deals have been executed. Obtain the unrecorded commitments for Original Programming and Sports which is consolidated with the Acquired Programming commitments.
Serve as the Audit and Sox compliance liaison. Supply all requested information to internal and external Auditors (PWC, CBS, Controller’s Group and the Audit Compliance and Operations Group). Provide all necessary information to the Audit and Compliance Operations group in order for them to perform studio audits of our output deals. Serve as IBMS liaison which entails coordination of testing and resolution of issues.
- Bachelor’s degree strongly required; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
- Entertainment industry experience within a finance/accounting environment is required along with work experience of 3 to 5 years.
- A high degree of understanding of the general nature and operation of the entertainment industry
- A thorough knowledge of GAAP and their appropriate application in the entertainment industry
- The ability to successfully interact with senior management and to present materials in a cogent and effective manner
- The ability to comprehend the overall picture while managing the details
- Proven analytical and financial ability
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of Enterprise One, Hyperion, Excel, MS Word
