Showtime is seeking a Summer Intern to assist the Content Acquisition Team in our West Hollywood office. 

Responsibilities Include:
  • Screen and write up coverage/evaluations of 50-100 movies, documentaries, comedy specials, and episodic series that pass through the acquisitions process at Showtime.
  • Make recommendations to the Manager, Directors, and EVP of Content Acquisitions as to which programs represent the best product for Showtime’s channels and what to pursue for acquisition.
  • Learn how we acquire films by listening in on film negotiation calls and reading licensing contracts.
  • Assemble evaluation packet for the bi-weekly departmental eval meeting.
  • Participate in tri-weekly meetings with our legal and scheduling departments.
  • Attend industry screenings at major talent agencies.
  • Scout comedians at local comedy clubs and provide feedback on talent who are being considered for hour-long stand-up specials. 
  • Organize DVD library of acquired documentaries and stand-up specials.
  • Assist senior staff with special research projects.
  • Current undergraduate student (rising junior or above) 
  • 2.5 GPA or Above
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint 
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Exceptional attention to detail 
  • Ability to work 40 hours/week for 8 weeks from June 17 - August 9
  • Able to provide administrative support, as needed 
  • Excellent writing/grammatical skills
  • Demonstrated interest in film, with a working knowledge of a wide variety of films/actors/directors
  • Fast and efficient writer, able to watch 2 films and write between 300-600 words per day
  • Film Studies concentration/major preferred--able to analyze content from the perspective of a subscriber
