Description:
Smithsonian Channel is seeking a Summer Intern to assist the Library & ArchivesGroup in the Washington DC office.  Responsibilities will include:
  • Catalog raw footage, edited programs, and/or other media assents in a Collective Access database
  • QC master digital files and create access copies
  • Conduct footage research and/or archival research for productions, using in-house and external databases
  • Research and fact check scripts
  • Migrate files in legacy or proprietary digital formats to archival formats
Qualifications:
Required:

To qualify, you must be an undergraduate student (rising junior or senior) with the following:
  • Strong interest in Cable/Entertertainment industry
  • 2.50 GPA or above
  • Submission of a cover letter - required
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work at least 35 hours/week for 8 weeks from 6/12-8/4
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work and prioritize work assignments
  • Able to provide administrative support as needed
Preferred:
  • Cable television experience a plus
  • Active participation in extracurricular activities; clubs; and/or associations. Leadership positions while maintaining an above-average GPA, a plus
  • Prior internship experience in a related field, a plus
  • Prefer graduate-level coursework in Library/Information Sciences
  • Must be proficient with Mac OS
  • Familiarity with video production a plus
