Responsible for writing creative and relevant on-air news copy under deadline. Communicating clearly with editors about anchors changes in news copy. Update social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and others. Conduct interviews with local officials and newsmakers; verify facts and produce news content. Edit audio content for broadcast or live use. Set up live interviews. Possess a working knowledge of current events and politics. Other duties as required.
WBZ NewsRadio is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic news writer. The ideal candidate can write radio newscasts as well as web content and material for WBZ’s social media platforms. This person must be able to think critically and write creatively with new factual information. He/she should be self-motivated in order to meet deadlines and communicate efficiently with other staff members. A successful candidate is eager to learn and be willing to help when needed.
· Preferably 3+ years out of college experience in news editing/writing.
· Must be computer literate and have excellent writing skills.
· Position requires proficiency in writing news copy, fact checking and research; must work well under breaking news and deadline pressure.
· Must have knowledge and understanding of social media.
· 4-year degree in journalism preferred.
· Capable of becoming proficient using audio recording and editing software and equipment.
