CBS This Morning is seeking a Line Producer with outstanding control room skills and excellent editorial judgement. This person must be adept at building a rundown and timing a show. The line producer is responsible for crafting the most active and visually compelling broadcast in network news. They are creative and effective with production elements that enhance the show’s pacing, intros, and teases. In the frequent event of breaking news, this person manages the evolving rundown and oversees the many moving scripts, bookings, graphics, and sound that drive the urgent storytelling. This person will also help lead special reports and other network-wide television events.



  • Manage timing of the show’s live rundown
  • Collaborates with Executive Producer, Managing Editor, and control room Senior Producer on stacking segments, teases, and elements
  • Communicates rundown changes and updates to control room, edit rooms, and writers
  • Coordinates rundown for special events and breaking news, keeping all elements organized and timing on track
  • Responsible for reporter hits and live chat elements, coordinating between producers, editors, the director and associate directors
  • Liaise between sales and the newsroom, coordinating sponsored elements, billboards, branded elements and commercials
  • Curate the broadcast’s daily playlist. Must have creative and sound judgement to pair music with editorial content. Important to have a diverse knowledge of music and current events.
  • Craft creative and concise storybars and tease bars


Candidates must be decisive multi-taskers who are recognized for their journalistic judgment and ability to remain calm in high-pressure control room environments.  The position requires a broad and current knowledge of national and world events. Must also be an excellent writer who is fluent in AP style. They must also have an excellent command of legal and standards processes.

The ideal candidate is curious, optimistic, composed, and constantly seeking ways to innovate. They have a relentless attention to detail and a simultaneous ability to see the big picture.
