The CBS News Financial Analyst, Hard News will report into the Director of Hard News. This individual will work in a team environment while working independently on multiple tasks. The ideal candidate will be have intellectual curiosity; a desire to learn about all aspects of hard news finance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the monthly close process by preparing journal entries and organizing supporting documents
  • Collaborate with the Hard News team on the monthly forecast and assist in development and preparation of the budget and long range financial plan
  • Assist in preparation of monthly budget performance reports for Hard News departments and broadcasts
  • Assist with the Weekly Bureau cost accounting and management
  • Prepare general ledger account analysis


  • At least 2 years of experience with news coverage, cost accounting and/or financial planning
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • Strong PC skills with excellent competence in the use of MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
