MaxPreps is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Intern to add to our Business Development team for Summer 2020. We need someone who isn’t afraid to own a project that drives value for our organization and gives you valuable skills and knowledge about how real business operates. Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Business Development, you’ll work with members of the Product and Programming (aka: Editorial) teams to discover untapped business opportunities around SEO and then lead our efforts to exploit them.
The primary focus of your internship will center around driving revenue via eCommerce opportunities within MaxPreps. In addition to working closely with the MaxPreps Business Development, Product and Programming Teams, you will also learn from SEO experts from other CBS Interactive businesses like CNET and CBSSports.com to explore variations of different SEO strategies and tactics in adjacent industries to MaxPreps.
Throughout your internship, you will apply your learnings by deploying new content on MaxPreps properties. After gathering objective measurements from the performance of new content, you’ll conduct an analysis of the results to determine what adjustments to SEO techniques and tactics should be made to maximize business value.
This unique opportunity will help you understand how collaboration across departments provides new opportunities that unlock meaningful business outcomes like increased revenue and strategic partnerships - critical keys to successful business development in any organization.
Work cross-functionally with key members of the Business Development, Product and Programming (ie: Editorial) teams to learn SEO principles, strategies and tactics.
Create, deploy and measure the results of new content to achieve business results.
Conduct thorough analysis of results to determine appropriate adjustments to maximize business results.
Implement adjustments to new/existing content. Repeat the process.
Communicate findings, challenges and recommendations to Senior Director of Business Development.
Document analytical procedures and processes.
- Time commitment: full-time, 40 hours per week.
- This is a paid internship and can also be for university credit if it meets your university's guidelines
What you bring to the team:
You have –
A natural curiosity to ask questions and find answers.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience analyzing data and using spreadsheet applications (Excel).
Basic understanding of HTML.
The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and learn quickly.
You might also have –
A sports background as a fan or participant.
A passion for conducting analysis to make informed recommendations.
Moderate experience with HTML.
Familiarity with web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics or Adobe Omniture.
Experience in SEO fundamentals and/or tools like Google Search Console.
