Division Overview:

CBS News Digital is part of CBS Interactive’s portfolio of multi-platform brands. The CBS News Digital team supports CBS News on all digital platforms, including CBSN, CBS News' digital streaming news network featuring live, anchored coverage across platforms, as well as, mobile apps and OTT apps. 

Role Details:

You will be part of an agile team responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining multiple Android applications across mobile, ott, and maybe home and auto platforms, provide the best Android experience for CBS News audience.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Implement application UI change requirements

  • Develop new product features in Kotlin and Java

  • Help test application performance

  • Diagnose and fix bugs as identified by users or other team members

  • Participate in scrum team meetings

  • Time commitment: full-time, 40 hours per week during our regular office hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm) but times may vary per team
  • This is a paid internship and can also be for university credit if it meets your university's guidelines

What you bring to the team: 

You have – 

  • Basic experience in software engineering for Android native applications

  • Basic skills in Java programming language.

  • Sound programming fundamentals and coding habits

  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical ideas to a varied technical audience, as well as to understand requirements from team members

  • Knowledge of Git and git flow

  • A passion for software development and a good learning attitude

You might also have – 

  • Understanding of third party libraries and APIs

  • Kotlin knowledge and experience

  • Media stream player knowledge

Additional requirements:
  • Intern must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Must be at least 18 years old
