Role Details:
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join the video product team to own our live streaming and direct-to-consumer video offerings on the CBS Sports app on connected TV and mobile devices, and other emerging platforms. It’s an exciting time in the business having just launched our always on, digital sports news network CBS Sports HQ, our first step towards creating the future of digital sports television. You will play a key role in innovating on the product and user experience to scale viewership and consumption of CBS Sports HQ, drive loyalty and engagement for the network, and increase distribution. 

Beyond CBS Sports HQ, you will be taking the lead on expanding the number of live events available through our platforms. These include some of the biggest events in sports like Super Bowl 53 in February 2019. In addition, you will help figure out how to best monetize the rights we hold to over 25,000 events per year and personalize the delivery of the ones that are most important to each user. Sports fans are passionate people. The choices you make will have a tangible impact on enriching their lives.

Your Day-to-Day:
  • Drive product strategy for our live streaming and over-the-top video product offerings on CBS Sports apps on iOS, Android, and key connected TV devices
  • Own the execution and excellence of your products - be scrappy, solve problems, and take an entrepreneurial approach to deliver against business outcomes and create a delightful viewer experience
  • Provide leadership to your cross-functional product team, consistently articulating product strategy, sharing learnings both good and bad, making difficult decisions and being accountable for them, prioritizing ruthlessly, representing the team throughout organization, and nurturing strong collaborative relationships within the team
  • Become the acknowledged expert in the organization on our viewers and customers - who they are, how they think, their needs, and pain points
  • Develop understanding of live sports and TV distribution rights and delivering a user experience that will seamlessly blend programming that is available either as a free ad-supported stream, requires a direct-to-consumer subscription, or a pay TV package
  • Evangelize modern product management best practices and culture and continuously identify opportunities to improve our product development processes
  • Collaborate and iterate with product design and engineering to find elegant but technically feasible solutions to user and business needs
  • Conduct user tests, research, and experiments to capture and understand real users’ motivations, goals, and pain points
  • Define, monitor, and analyze product and monetization metrics, and feed learnings back into the product development process
  • Support the engineering team during sprint cycles by testing development builds for upcoming releases and removing any blockers that may impact on-time delivery
  • Assess competing or similar products in the fast-changing sports, media, television, and digital video landscape
What you bring to the team:
  • 5+ years of product management experience with history of shipping high scale consumer digital products, ideally mobile or video products
  • Loves watching, reading and consuming sports
  • Passion for collaborating, iterating, and testing with Product Design and Engineering to discover solutions that exceed user expectations and drive business results
  • Obsession with customers and experience personally conducting user research, testing, and optimization 
  • High comfort level in analytics and generating customer insights from data trends
  • Can think strategically but is able to roll up your sleeves, get stuff done, and sweat the  details
  • Can communicate clearly and effectively - on paper, in person, over email/chat - across all functions and levels of the org 
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams to deliver on our goals
