Brand/Division Overview:

The Video Operations team is responsible for supporting the video delivery and architecture of VOD and Live content streamed on over 15 platforms. Video Quality Assurance is an extremely important aspect of the team’s success.


Role Details:

CBS Interactive is seeking an experienced Video Operations Manager who is passionate and knowledgeable about digital video to oversee the distribution of video to CBS Interactive websites, apps and distribution partners.


Our mission as a team is to achieve a premium video streaming experience in line with the leaders in the industry. We are looking for a strong leader who can juggle multiple projects at once and maintain a hard line for keeping the product performing at a high level. The ideal candidate must be able to discern priority and focus resources where necessary.


Your Day-to-Day:

  • Manage technical details of video distribution and infrastructure, including integration into CBSi websites, mobile websites, mobile and emerging platform applications and partners sites

  • Oversee distribution systems and custom distribution integrations for CBS Audience Network partners

  • Manage configuration of video CMS (thePlatform MPX), including maintenance of feed infrastructure, new metadata fields, implementation of additional connectors and any other modifications required to operate our distribution business in a more effective way

  • Manage video content curation in multiple site CMS systems

  • Troubleshoot distribution problems, such as issues with feeds, XML, RSS, media management,  video encoding or content curation

  • Monitor and address ongoing file storage and security issues

  • Implement and manage systems and partnerships to integrate pre-roll advertising into mobile video

  • Compile statistics and reporting around video usage across mobile services

  • Integrate new video services into the existing video workflows

  • Ability to operate independently, juggle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a results-oriented environment

Qualifications:

What you bring to the team:

You have –

  • Minimum of 5 years of video management or lead experience

  • Bachelor level degree or equivalent experience

  • Must be self-motivated, entrepreneurial, detail-oriented and an innovator

  • Requires strong technical skills - a problem solver with a passion for developing solutions and processes to address complex problems

  • Experience working with digital video and strong knowledge of video formats, encoding and delivery methods and live video broadcasts – including Flash Video and HTTP Live Streaming

  • Familiarity with mobile, tablet and OTT device landscape, particularly video playback capabilities

  • Strong technical skills with expertise in working with XML and JSON

  • Direct experience working with thePlatform MPX is a plus

  • Must be proficient in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience maintaining large scale video/metadata catalogues
